Soma - RG Veda

This costume was my 2013 WCS Prelim costume. I tried really hard to amp Soma's design up a bit to match the beauty of Kendappa. I had a lot of fun doing the embroidery and jewelry.

Construction Details:

The Dress: The dress was made out of a crinkle chiffon. I draped the pattern over my dressform to have the correct flow and shape. I digitized the designs for the skirt and then embroidered them along the sleeves and skirt. I trimmed the edge of the skirt with a heavy weight indian style bias tape. Brass chain detail were added to the lacing of the sleeves.

The Jewelry: Jewelry was all hand made using brass filigree, chains, and resin gems. The shoes were purchased white sandals that I altered to match the filigree jewelry.

The Cincher: The cincher is made with white pleather, and fully boned. I created embroidered appliques that I glued on to the cincher. I also added a resin gem and some brass filigree to tie in the jewelry.
