Sandy - Tokidoki

Tokidoki is sort of an obsession of mine (ok so thats an understatement!). I have had the idea of creating a Sandy costume floating around in my head for a while, but never had the time to really get it done. A few friends expressed an interest in joining me in their own Tokidoki outfits and I couldn't resist, we designed this kigirumi inspired design to look cute and be comfy while still looking like a human version of the character. I love these costumes <3!

Construction Details:

The Suit: The pattern for the suit was created from an altered kigirumi pattern. I added "fat arms" and took in the sides to be more form fitting, and cropped the legs to knee length. The suit was sewn from a green minky fabric, and arms were stuffed with polyfil. The hood took the most time to pattern because I wanted it to be big and round to resemble Sandy's signature round head, and still be sturdy enough to support Sandy's cactus buds. The hood has wire and foamies in the rim so it keeps its shape. The cactus bugs are stuffed with poly fill and given a wire skeleton that was sewn straight onto the hood. Each spike was sewn, stuffed and sewed on by hand, super time consuming but the result is awesome!

The Wig: The wig was a light pink wig purchased from Epic Cosplay that was hand colored with several shades of pink sharpies.

Other Details: The zipper (my favorite part and inspiration for the costume) is one of those huge Kingdom Hearts Organization XIII zippers that I purchased online. The hair barette was made out of foamies and some acrylic paint. The shoes were purchased off of Rakuten.

Those suits are FABULOUS!

I love the hoods, obviously but those sleeves and the whole look is brilliant!

The models are gorgeous, too!
