California Gurls Progress

Wow, wow wow wow wow. There is so much work that has gone into this costume. Much more then I had originally thought.

The corset features 12hr+ of hand sewing, hand appliqueing and hand beading. There is no glue holding anything on to this costume, only thread. Each item was hand stitched to the corset to ensure a tight durable hold. All of the tiny sprinkles are glass seed beads that were placed such that no sprinkle is exactly next to the same color sprinkle.

The necklace is one of my favorite parts, the candys were made out of model magic and wrapped in cellophane. The gumdrops are model magic painted and dipped in glitter, some of the beads (like the pink stripes) were made by hand using model magic and the others were picked by hand. I also made a bracelet and ring to match, they also look amazing. I am trying to decide if I want to make earrings as well.

The skirt was sewn out of various colors of costume satin, it looks a bit limp on the dress form but on me it ends up being the right amount of poof.

All in all a lot of time and energy went into this costume and I can't wait to get pictures of it at Katsucon!
