Sarah Kerrigan - Starcraft
Although I suck something awful at the game, I really enjoy Starcraft and the community. Kerrigan is one of my all time favorite kick-ass characters. I love her ghost armor that appeared in the opening cinematic of Starcraft II, so I decided to make it!Construction Details:
The Armor: The armor pieces were made of EVA foam, foamies, and backer rod. They were patterned in cardboard and then cut out in the EVA foam, I used a heat gun to shape the pices and hot glue to put them together. Most pieces velcro together, the bracers use velcro and magnets.PCV tubing and PET-G plastic were used to create light windows, and some wax paper was used as a diffuser for the EL tape that runs through the costume.
The Undersuit: The spandex suit was made out of a gray spandex and a stretch grey athletic mesh for texture. The suit was patterned out using a mock up, and then sewn and serged together. Velcro was attached in various places to hold the armor up, and some holes were cut in the arms legs and hips to run wire through the costume for the lighting.
Other Details: The mask was sculpted out of Monster Clay of a cast of my own head and then cast in resin and painted. The gun was a nerf longstrike that was altered using apoxie sculpt, foam, PVC pipes and wire. I burned out a dremel building it Credits:
